The “R” of Mr. R’s comes from the founders last name, Redoutey. The 1st Mr. R was a Boy Scout leader & Scoutmaster and was addressed as “Mr. R” by the boys. In 1994 when Michael Redoutey, Mr. R #2, was searching for a name, it seemed like a good choice to select “Mr. R” as the name and thus honoring his dad. Mr. R #3, Jason Redoutey, Michael’s son, continues the tradition of excellence. This is how the R’s came upon to this day.
Mr. R’s offers driver training classes in accordance with state laws and operates under the authority of Michigan Department of State and the State Board of Education. Our instructors are state licensed and their driving records are on file for public inspection.
A little about the founder of Mr. R's: Michael Redoutey. Mr. R. has 2 B.S degrees from Michigan State University, one in Forestry (1975) and the other in General Science (1986) with secondary teaching certficiation. Mr. Redoutey took his driver education classes at MSU in 1989. Mr. Redoutey has been teaching Drivers Education for 15 years, and has done over 7,000 road tests for the Secretary of State office since 1998. Mr. Redoutey has been married for 29 years to Rebecca, and have 4 children, 2 of whom are teenagers and were instructed by me, they havce called Haslett “home” for the past 26 years. They have been also foster parents to over 20 children, his oldest son is Jason and has been teaching drivers education in Haslett for 5 years. I enjoy teaching driver education and take seriously my part in instructing the new student to be a great, safe driver. I have never been in an accident. I am very patient with each student. There is nothing the student can do to make me raise my voice towards them. I fully understand their need to be as relaxed as they can and enjoy the driving experience. Students learn better and more quickly in that environment.
