The “R” of Mr. R’s comes from the founders last name, Redoutey. The 1st Mr. R was a Boy Scout leader & Scoutmaster and was addressed as “Mr. R” by the boys. In 1994 when Michael Redoutey, Mr. R #2, was searching for a name, it seemed like a good choice to select “Mr. R” as the name and thus honoring his dad. Mr. R #3, Jason Redoutey, Michael’s son, continues the tradition of excellence. This is how the R’s came upon to this day.
Mr. R’s offers driver training classes in accordance with state laws and operates under the authority of Michigan Department of State and the State Board of Education. Our instructors are state licensed and their driving records are on file for public inspection.
A little about the founder of Mr. R's: Michael Redoutey. Mr. R. has 2 B.S degrees from Michigan State University, one in Forestry (1975) and the other in General Science (1986) with secondary teaching certficiation. Mr. Redoutey took his driver education classes at MSU in 1989. Mr. R. has been teaching Drivers Education for over 20 years, and has done over 10,000 road tests for the Secretary of State office since 1998. Mr. R. has been married for over 30 years to Rebecca, and has 4 children, all of whom were instructed by Mr. R., and they have called Haslett “home” since 1978. They have been also foster parents to over 20 children. His oldest son is Jason ("Mr. R. Jr.") who has been teaching drivers education in Haslett since 1999.
